| Ocober 23, 2005 — Canada to Amsterdam After a long series of flights, approaching Amsterdam presented a beautiful sight. Always something new to discover. While transferring to our ship we were stopped while a canal bridge raised to allow a boat to pass. Then, with a few hours to spare, after lunch we scouted out the nearby streets before returning for our 6 o'clock sailing down the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal built to connect the port city of Amsterdam to the main shipping artery of the Rhine. In the evening, we enjoyed a welcome aboard cocktail followed by dinner. Then it was time to explore the River Duchess — our home for the next 3 weeks. |
