Morning free.

2.30 p.m. By invitation of the Management through Mr. R. H. Macaulay, members visited the Bristol Aeroplane Company where, after a tour of inspection, Tea was served.

Unfortunately, other than this building (still camoflaged from the war) I have no pictures from this tour.

They were building the Bristol Britannia — a huge four engine turboprop which they touted as the plane of the future. I remember being so impressed that they had a full size wooden model of what it would look like.

Maybe they should have stopped there. The project was a financial failure. Shortly after they finally took flight turboprops were sidelined by jets. Only 85 were ever produced.

8.00 p.m. A representative group visited the Hillfields Park Mixed Youth Club through arrangements made by Mr. E. G. Seath, J.P., Secretary of the City and County of Bristol Youth Committee.
Select group, eh. Don't think I was there.
