8.30 a.m. By special coaches to CAMBRIDGE where the programme for the day had been organised in co-operation with The English-Speaking Union (Secretary: Mrs. F. de Morpurgo).

At 10.30 a.m. arrived at the Guildhall where members were welcomed by the Mayor, Councillor T. Amey, J.P., and entertained to light refreshments.

At 11.00 a.m. through arrangements made at the instance of Professor Stratton, all members saw the University Procession in connection with the awarding of Honorary Degrees, from inside the Senate House Yard.

Those who received Honorary Degrees included:

      The Primate of Sweden.
      Mr. Pandit Nehru-Prime Minister of India.
      Sir Adrian Boult.
      Sir John Cockcroft.
      Sir Oliver Franks.
      Sir Frank Whittle.
      Dr. Hugh Parry.

Great picture — eh.
At 1.00 p.m. had lunch at the Dorothy Cafe.

During the afternoon groups were formed to visit the Colleges, Fitzwilliam Museum and to watch the May Races from the tow path.

5.15 p.m. Attended the choral evening service in KING'S COLLEGE CHAPEL.

6.30 p.m. High tea at the Dorothy Cafe.

7.30 p.m. Returned to Camp.

I remember how impressed I was with the chapel.
