Research expertise

I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY) in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music and a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Literature. My performing career is diverse and equally divided between solo piano repertoire, art song and operatic literature, and instrumental duo and chamber music. As a piano teacher, my focus is on helping my students to build a reliable and sound technical foundation that connects body, intellect and artistry; to gently stretch the boundaries of their comfort zones in exploring a range of music; and to investigate the cross-section of their musical and non-musical interests to find a unique and individual niche in the music world.

As a Chamber Music and Collaborative Duo coach, my goal is to help each group find their unique voice. In my coaching, the exploration of the group dynamic is equal to the exploration of the music itself, but ultimately serves the music and the performance situation.
