As an introduction to creative writing, this course emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between reading and writing. The course is composed of two parts: the first is devoted to reading prose and poetry by masters with the intention of learning the craft of creative writing: its techniques, tricks, and "rules". The second part of the course introduces students to the workshop and will develop creative writing skills through prompts and exercises to refine their own writing.
