X-ray equipment or devices used at the University of Lethbridge for teaching and research purposes are regulated in Alberta under the Radiation Protection Regulation. This regulation requires that designated x-ray equipment must be registered before they can be used.
The registration process requires a formal compliance inspection to be carried out to ensure that the x-ray equipment meets certain specified safety standards before it may be registered. The compliance inspection and registration must be completed prior to using designated x-ray equipment.
Safety Services administers of the University's X-ray Safety Program and must be contacted prior to the acquisition and use of any designated x-ray equipment.
X-Ray Safety Training is required for users of designated x-ray equipment (as applicable for regulatory requirements). Contact safety.services@uleth.ca to enroll.
