Risk and Safety Services has developed guidelines to assist in the safe transport of hazardous materials (dangerous goods) on and off campus.
Field research/course work activities may require that dangerous goods be transported to various locations and may be subject to compliance with TDG Regulations that govern package, labelling, quantities of dangerous goods and vehicle placarding.
Shipping and/or receiving chemicals, radioisotopes, biohazardous materials or waste to facilities on or off campus; or transport into the field may require compliance with TDG Regulations. There are exemptions for limited quantity transportation, but the limits for each dangerous good must be confirmed for compliance with transportation regulations pertaining to the packaging and size of containers being taken in the field.
