Congratulations, Kaitlynn!

I-CYS MA Student Kaitlynn Weaver Receives SSHRC for Study Abroad

The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements (CGS-MSFSS) Program supports high-calibre Canadian graduate students in building international networks through the pursuit of exceptional research experiences at research institutions abroad. While Kaitlynn originally planned to work at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, due to changes in circumstance, Kaitlynn will now be working Dr. Lauren Silver who is a senior lecturer in the Childhood Studies Department at Rutgers University (Camden, NJ). Kaitlynn’s stay will thus further an existing connection with scholars at the University of Lethbridge’s Institute for Child and Youth Studies and the department of Childhood Studies at Rutgers Camden.

During her stay, Kaitlynn will present her MA research project to the faculty and network with international scholars working in the interdisciplinary field of childhood studies. This opportunity will allow Kaitlynn to grow as a scholar, disseminate her research findings to teachers and teacher-educators at Rutgers-Camden, and enhance Kaitlynn’s own MA thesis entitled: "'Parroting back what they hear:' Theorizing Young People’s Participation in Canadian Politics with Teachers educated at the University of Lethbridge."
