United Way Workplace Campaign

Visit http://lethbridgeunitedway.ca/ to contribute a one-time donation online or print, fill out, and submit a U of L payroll pledge form.

PLEASE NOTE: The printed form should be forwarded by internal mail to the attention of "Human Resources". They will ensure that the United Way receives a copy. If you have not arranged for last year's payroll deduction to carry on, you need to fill out another form and send it to Human Resources. Otherwise, your donation will not continue.

Faculty and staff donations to the United Way assist many organizations to move people out of poverty, to help kids be all that they can be, and to build strong communities in Southern Alberta.

More information on the United Way is available on their website: http://lethbridgeunitedway.ca/

I would like to take this time to remind faculty and staff of how important your contributions have been to the United Way of Lethbridge and Southern Alberta.

Our community needs you now more than ever. Even though we often feel like we live in one of the most privileged cities in Canada, the gaps between the rich and poor are growing. In the Lethbridge region the youth poverty rate is roughly 15%. This places our community first in the province when it comes to child poverty. This is definitely not a first place finish that we want or should accept.

The United Way helps to bridge these growing divides to create better opportunities for everyone, including children. You can visit the  United Way website to learn more about the programs that were supported by your previous donations. If you have not donated, please consider this as a way to make a direct difference to families in Lethbridge.

While you are visiting the website, please consider making a one-time donation or downloading and submitting the annual payroll pledge form. I do this every year because I know that this is a tremendous way to ensure that I am contributing to the strong and safe community that we often take for granted.

Payroll pledge forms are being accepted in Human Resources on an ongoing basis. If you would like to assist our efforts to increase our contributions across the university, please contact Mike Whipple at mike.whipple@uleth.ca
