Climate Change and Human Health: Mobilizing Community-Led Research results in National and International Decision-Making Arena

Dr. Sherilee Harper, University of  Alberta

Climate change has had wide-sweeping and serious impacts on human health globally. But, these impacts are not equitably distributed among communities. How can climate-health experiences, knowledge, and solutions from communities inform national and international decision-making arenas? In this presentation, Dr. Harper will discuss how results from community-led research projects have shaped national and international climate change assessments. Using the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports and federal examples from Canada, the presentation will explore the interlinkages and gaps in moving local evidence into national and international climate change negotiations.
