The School of Liberal Education at the University of Lethbridge is home to The Bridge Prize, a new creative writing competition open to post-secondary students across Canada.

Funded by a generous U of L alum, The Bridge Prize is to be awarded every second year, beginning in 2020.
Its focus is to celebrate excellence in the short story fiction and to motivate and inspire Canada's next generation of fiction writers. The Bridge Prize offers the largest cash prize in Canada at the post-secondary level - over $10,000 in prize money will be awarded to the winner and three finalists.
Our national jury is led by Thomas King, and includes authors Aritha van Herk and Charlie Demers; Shelley Ambrose, publisher of The Walrus magazine; and Leslie Hurtig, Artistic Director of the Vancouver Writers Fest.

Sponsors: The Walrus magazine and Munro's Books.

Deadline for the first competition: January 20, 2020.

All U of L students are encouraged to submit short stories!
