The first school was originally found near the north west corner of 4 Ave & 7 st. south. When the Chinook Club (later City Hall) in 1905 needed more space it was sold and moved across the street to this location.

Rumour has it the former school was later moved and used as a residence on London Road.

1963 — HULL BLOCK DESTROYED BY FIRE. EIGHT FIREMEN INJURED.

1940 — MRS. HALTON WIFE OF MATTHEW HALTON FORMER WRITER FOR LETHBRIDGE HERALD RETURNED FROM ENGLAND WITH HER TWO CHILDREN.

1972 — NEW LIBRARY TO BE BUILT AT CENTRAL SCHOOL SITE ON BLOCK BETWEEN 5TH AND 6TH AVE

This” first Central School” was built in 1891 and demolished in 1931.

In the 1970s part of Dr. Mewburn's house still showed itself from the alley. (See item #23)
