In 1992 I contacted communities along the way and proposed the

Peter Fidler Heritage Trail

The trail would pass close to many of Alberta's major cultural attractions - Fort George-Buckingham House (where Fidler started his historic journey), Reynold's Alberta Museum, the proposed Turner Valley complex, the Bar U Ranch National Historic Site and down into the Frank Slide-Remington Museum Country.

Returning north, travellers would want to visit the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump as Fidler was the only European to provide us with an eyewitness account of a working buffalo jump and the Royal Tyrrell Museum in the famous "badlands" near the locations where Fidler first described our cactus and coal.

The Peter Fidler Heritage Trail would help tie our major tourist attractions together and get more tourists circulating the province. Click here to see a map of the proposed route.
