Deb Best

Deb Best has an undergraduateanda graduate degree in Social Work, both from the University of Calgary.  Subsequent to the completion of her undergraduate degree, she found employment in Community Mental Health Services in Medicine Hat, Alberta.  While the name of the organization has changed several times throughout the years, the work has not.  Being part of the development of services for those with mental health issues from the most acute to public education for healthy living has made a wonderful career.  She worked in a variety of capacities from frontline to senior management from 1974 until 2011.

Deb's interests within the community of Medicine Hat have included: Rotary, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Southeastern Alberta Community Foundation, InterAct Theatre Society, and the Midicine Hat Youth Action Society.  Deb has been involved in her children's education, social and recreational experiences throughout their lives.  This has led to many short term but very valuable times of sharing and learning about the importance of local participation in the well-being of the places we call home.  This combination of family, community and work has kept her life full throughout the years and she believes it lends itself to her desire to contribute to the University of Lethbridge.
