Common areas of study include capital markets' use of information, judgment and decision-making of auditors and managers, factors influencing information quality and use, accounting information systems, ethics, performance measurement, and contracting uses of accounting information.

A degree or major in accounting is required to be considered for this major. Though not required, work experience in accounting is a valuable asset.

The Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics is a part-time program
Complete the program's four courses in six months, in person or online
Bioinformatics combines computer programming, data analysis, and biology. With this program, you'll understand both basic and advanced concepts of bioinformatics and the wide range of possible applications.

Don't have prior computational experience? Expand your knowledge and skills in computer science and programming using Unix systems, algorithms, data structures, string manipulation, basic concepts of software development and programming languages.

Have a background in computer science? Learn basic concepts of biological and genetic information and master further data analysis skills in a focused topic area, such as bioinformatic algorithms, genomics and medical informatics. You'll also demonstrate competency with programming languages.

Biosystems and Biodiversity is a multidisciplinary program emphasizing organisms' interactions with both biotic and abiotic components of their environments. Areas of research include animal ecology, plant ecology, microbial ecology, parasitology, molecular systematics, biogeography, physiological ecology, remote sensing, environmental genetics, toxicology, developmental biology, phytochemistry and plant physiology. Interested in becoming a Canadian Certified Counsellor or Registered Psychologist in Alberta? In the MEd (Counselling Psychology), complete coursework, a practicum and culminating activity (thesis, project or Capstone) to:

  • understand and acquire communication skills in interpersonal and counselling contexts
  • learn historical and theoretical foundations in counselling psychology
  • develop a planning and implementation framework for client change interventions in counselling psychology

The MSc in Remote Sensing enables students to develop advanced research skills in remote sensing. The objective of the program is to accommodate students interested in studying aspects of remote sensing that are not contained in the geographical research domain. Urban & Regional Studies (URS) delves into the physical, social, economic and political factors that shape our cities. It looks at the role of planning to manage dynamic forces of change such as immigration, global warming, aging populations, energy conservation, congestion, urban forests, homelessness and smog, to name just a few. Issues include the evolving social, ethnic and architectural character of urban neighbourhoods, the decline of agricultural service centres in the west or the governance of urban sprawl.
