The Future of Science is Here!
The University of Lethbridge is proud to announce our newest state-of-the-art science facility.
The look and scope of scientific discovery are set to be transformed in the fall of 2019 as the University of Lethbridge opens the new Science and Academic Building (SAB). One of the most advanced facilities for teaching and researching the sciences in the country, the new addition to the Lethbridge campus is the largest construction project to take place since University Hall was completed in 1971. Sustainably designed with local climate in mind, students, faculty and community will come together under one roof to create, inquire and discover.
SAB is the place where undergraduate and graduate students can begin their careers in the sciences, where they will take their ideas and, with the help of faculty researchers, entrepreneurs and industry mentors, turn them into productive businesses. It’s the place the next generation of researchers, scientists and scholars will credit for the start of their science careers. It brings together faculty and students from across science disciplines (Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Psychology, Physics & Astronomy), promoting and enabling curricular innovation, helping students achieve their academic goals and fostering a community of science at the U of L and across southern Alberta.
The new building features exceptional laboratories, modern classrooms and dedicated space that will double the University’s capacity for science outreach activities. Our faculty and students now build upon their legacy of research leadership in one of the finest facilities in the nation. As we expand, we will enhance our transdisciplinary roots by providing large, flexible and adaptable laboratory spaces.
