Best Practices

Bleeding (Margins) 0.125 on all sides
No critical information in bleed area or at the edge of the clip area
“All Marks” selected in Marks and Bleeds Panel
Colour Specify pantone number (Print industry colour matching system)
No unintended spot colours that require additional printing plates
CMYK colour format (on full colour images only) - NOT RGB
No RGB images or RGB colors in a four-colour process printing job (RGB images may not separate properly unless colour management is on and set up correctly)
Digital File Press-ready PDF preferred
Accepted formats include PowerPoint, PDF, .psd, .eps, .jpeg, .tif, .ai
We do not accept Excel files
Fonts All font files used in the layout or in a graphic are embedded or outlined
Images Only high-resolution image data (do not provide images taken off the web; our graphic designers can source images for you)
File format is .tif, .jpeg, .eps, .psd, .ai, raw photo files; no .gif files
Links Links to placed graphics, images, and text elements
Logos Preferred file types include eps tif or png. Please do NOT convert if these file formats are not available. Provide designer with what you have available.
Resolution

Minimum 300 dpi

  • Refers to the number of dots or screen pixels used to create an image (the more dots, the higher the resolution, the better the image)
  • Higher resolutions increase file sizes
Transparency Flattened prior to exporting to PDF
