Application Guide

Each year our online housing application portal allows us to begin accepting applications on September 15 for the following Academic Year.

Remember that, you can apply for housing, even if you have NOT yet been officially admitted into the University.

• An Offer of Accommodation can only be sent once a student has ACCEPTED their offer of ADMISSION to the U of L

The application deadline is then extended until January and April, depending on the type of housing request.

Extending the deadline enables more New University Students to complete their admission process and receive the offer of admission.

An April deadline also allows all students an opportunity to experience residence life before reapplying, including those who began their enrollment in the January term.

The process of assigning campus housing is a complex one. Our overall goal is to find an acceptable balance for first, second, third, and fourth-year students within appropriate facilities for the year of study. See Housing Strategic Plan.

Consequently, we do not process applications on a first-come/first-serve basis. If we did so, all of the second and third-year students would be applying for rooms one year in advance and all of the residences would be full by mid-September.

Instead, we have developed a Lottery System with two separate "draws," one for New University Students and one for Continuing | Transfer | Mature Students. See Important Dates

Single Students coming in the Fall term are required to sign an 8-month contract.

All students must apply for housing online.

Housing Contracts (Lease Agreements) must be properly signed. Once signed by you and a U of L representative, there is a legal and binding agreement in place. Residents will also be required to sign and agree to all content contained in the Community Handbook that each student is provided with.

Note: Unit Inspection Forms are a critical component of the contract and are to be completed by every resident upon arrival.
