University of Lethbridge Pronghorns sole sisters helping souls

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Women’s Basketball team, with the support of the Faculty of Education and Runners Soul, has been leading the Reclaiming Your Sole shoe drive to make sure local children and teens have a pair of athletic shoes.

More than 100 pairs of shoes have been donated and members of the Horns women’s basketball team will be delivering shoes to Lethbridge Family Services – Immigrant Services, located at 1107 2A Ave. N., on Thursday, October 12 at 10 a.m. Media are invited to attend.

Working with the Faculty of Education, local school boards and Lethbridge Family Services, the team will distribute shoes where needed.

The Reclaiming Your Sole shoe drive is affiliated with the Soles4Souls, a non-profit social enterprise based in Nashville, Tennessee. The organization provides relief through its distribution of shoes and clothing where they are needed around the world. Any shoes that aren’t distributed locally will be sent to Soles4Souls.

“The ‘Reclaiming Your Sole’ drive has no end date unless every child in the world has a pair of athletic shoes,” says Dave Adams, head coach of the team.

Anyone who’d like to donate their gently used athletic shoes can do so at Runners Soul, located at 2646 South Parkside Dr., or at the U of L Sport & Recreation Services customer desk located on the first floor of the 1st Choice Savings Centre. More information is available online at Reclaiming Your Sole.
