A Nightmare on Shred Street

Monday, Oct. 31, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., bus loading zone on the west side of the 1st Choice Savings Centre

Are you haunted by piles of personal papers? Have your old tax documents become mummified? Does cleaning out your files seem like a monstrous task? A Nightmare on Shred Street is an event designed to help professional procrastinators of paper purging take action. Shred Street is free but donations of cash or non-perishable food items for the campus food bank are appreciated.

Stress Survivor: Art Island

Monday, Oct. 31, 1:30 to 3 p.m., Main Gallery, W600

Stress Survivor: Art Island is an event that gives students the chance to de-stress and enjoy mindful activity by participating in the Exquisite Corpse Collage. Cookies and refreshments available. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Inflammation and the Brain

Thursday, Nov. 3, 3:05 to 4:30 p.m., CCBN, EP1201

Dr. Quentin Pittman, a professor at the University of Calgary’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute, will discuss his research into how the brain responds to an infection in the body. Check out his Sixty Second Science video on YouTube.

Clearing the Plains and Clearing the Air: Canadian History in the Age of Reconciliation

Thursday, Nov. 3. 7 p.m., Lethbridge Public Library

As part of the Dr. Alex Johnston Lecture Series, Dr. James Daschuk, a professor at the University of Regina, will discuss his research on the effects of environmental change on indigenous peoples’ health. The lecture series is sponsored by the U of L, the Lethbridge Historical Society and the Lethbridge Public Library.

A Conversation with Rudy Wiebe

Thursday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m., Lethbridge Public Library

Hosted by Dr. Cliff Lobe, coordinator of the Academic Writing Program, author Rudy Wiebe will be on hand for a reading and discussion, question-and-answer session and book signing. In Where the Truth Lies, Wiebe reveals his thought processes as he worked on many of his books.

If There’s One Thing I Know is True — TheatreXtra

Thursday, Nov. 3 to Saturday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m., David Spinks Theatre, W425

This play examines romantic love in a generation that tends to both crave it and alienate it — the millennials. A millennial couple, exhuming their failed relationship, ask themselves where they went wrong. Can true love exist in the age of Tinder and the Kylie Jenner lip kit?
