Annual Kappa Sigma Headshave

Tuesday, April 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Atrium, University Centre for the Arts

The Kappa Sigma Headshave has raised more than $250,000 in the last decade for the Canadian Cancer Society. This year’s head shave is dedicated to Sutton Bowers (BA ’09), who passed away last October.

Clothes-stealing, scarf-dragging, and slipper-changing: dress and the early Christian martyr

Tuesday, April 4, 1:40 p.m., M1035, Markin Hall

Dr. Erin Vearncombe from Princeton University will talk about her research, which examines the role of clothing in the construction of Christian identity in the early Jesus movement.

Prentice Institute Brown Bag Series — Chk-a-dee-dee-dee and other lines of flight

Friday, April 7, noon to 1:30 p.m., L1102, Library

Mickey Vallee, a professor of Cultural Studies at Athabasca University, will talk about soundscape ecology, an emerging field based on a keen awareness of biodiversity protection. It focuses on analyzing sounds to assess the spaces between life forms in the environment. Vallee will discuss the ways soundscape cartographers use sound to trace the contours of environments.

Culture Vulture Saturdays — Magnificent Saline Vistas

Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Atrium, University Centre for the Arts

In celebration of International Earth Day on April 22, participants will be asked to look back on the Group of Seven landscape painters for inspiration for their own landscape painting using salt water and paint to create textured landscapes.

Summer Colour Fun Run

Sunday, April 9, noon to 5 p.m., the Grove

The Summer Colour Fun Run in support of Volunteer Lethbridge has inflatable obstacles, colour stations and free burgers and hot dogs. Participants will be showered with colour powder at one-kilometre intervals in this five-kilometre run/walk.
