The Near Death Experience - Fact, Fallacy or Myth in the Making? — Prof. Anne White

Wednesday, April 15, 7 to 8:30 p.m., C620, University Hall

White, a Department of Religious Studies faculty member at the University of Calgary, will talk about the varying opinions surrounding the Near Death Experience (NDE). Carl Jung once said death was just as psychologically important as birth and represents a goal, not an end. However, modern culture does little to address the anxiety many people experience when faced with their own death or that of a significant other. When it comes to NDEs, people who say they have experienced them are often transformed while many others refute such experiences. Researchers who examine NDEs in a respectful way typically find a person has experienced deep consciousness closely associated with the mystical and transcendental.
