The University of Lethbridge is opening the doors to Dr. Dmytro Yevtushenko’s potato research laboratory in an open house designed to give potato growers and processors an opportunity to see the research work being done and talk with the researchers themselves.

Yevtushenko was appointed Research Chair in Potato Science in 2016 with funding from a consortium of the Potato Growers of Alberta and industry partners, including McCain Foods, Lamb Weston and Cavendish Farms. His research program is focused on the needs of stakeholders in the potato industry.

During the open house, Yevtushenko and his graduate students, Florian Dieker, Dilumi Kekulandala and Colby Robertson, and others will be sharing the research work they are conducting in the lab. In addition to visiting the potato research lab, participants will also get a tour of Yevtushenko’s new lab space under construction in the Science and Academic Building.

Media are invited to attend this event where approximately 40 industry stakeholders are expected to attend, including potato farmers, representatives from the potato processing industry and the Potato Growers of Alberta.
